Season to Give

This is a great time of year to check the expiration dates on your food storage/emergency prep items. It's also a great time of year to make donations to our local Food Bank, the Bountiful Food Pantry.
Did you now you can do both at the same time?Image result for expiration dates on food The Bountiful Food Pantry will take your donations of expired food items up to three years beyond the expiration dates - yes, three years beyond the expiration dates. There are a couple of common sense rules, however: if cans are bulging, NO GO - just discard them in your trash - opened or damaged goods - same thing - just get rid of it.
Image result for images bountiful food pantryThe Pantry is located at 480 E 150 N. Bountiful UT 84010 and you can contact them at 801-299-8464. Usual hours of operation for drop-off are:
Mon thru Sat: 8AM – Noon
Tues/Wed/Thurs: 6PM – 8PM
Sun: Closed

Once you've done your inventory, it might be a good idea to see if you need to replace the expired food, or even increase your storage because your family may have grown since your last inventory.

If you have any questions, please contact me at any time - you can reach me at my email address, or on Facebook. If you are not a member of the Valentine & Mountain View Emergency Prep page, friend me and I can add you.

September is About Easy Food Storage

Right now is the time to check your dates on your food storage!

I had the opportunity to eat some Dinty Moore stew the other day, and it tasted like a tin can.

Imagine my surprise when that case of Dinty Moore stew I thought I purchased within the last six months was expired. That explained a lot, and also explained that I, and probably you, have a hard time remembering when we buy things, when we store them, etc.

On September 12 at 1000 hours (10:00 a.m.), meet me at the Valentine Relief Society Room for a down and dirty discussion on Easy Food Storage. I'll be bringing visual aids and will try to refrain from any Death-by-PowerPoint presentations.
